Featured: Mileydie Rojas Jewelry

While living in Nicaragua, I met Mileydie. She is a local Nicaraguan woman whose personality everyone gravitates too. She truly is an inspiring woman. Not only is she beautiful inside and out, (she often get mistaken by foreigners for halle berry) she is smart, confident and an entrepreneur. In a country where most men do not know how to drive, and very few have a method of transportation through use of a motorcylce, she has a drivers licence and a small vehicle. She uses this vehicle to contribute to driving others to remote areas of Nicaragua to further the volunteer work she is involved in. She works hard as a live in nanny in a culture where a good wage is $10.00 a day. On her days off she is fully involved in volunteer work, helping those in her community. I couldn't help but love her while I watched her ride her motorcycle in stilettos, and then go fishing in the ocean to try and catch some supper. She truly is one of a kind not allowing the difficulties of living in a third world country hold her back. Mileydie mentioned to me that she wanted to start a business creating and selling jewelry. She had already gotten a few other Nicaraguan woman involved in making pieces, but had only really been selling to local Nicaraguans and wanted to see if she could branch out to a more international market. I loved her jewelry with its ethnic feel, and knew that this could be an awesome opportunity for her. This is where all of you come in. We are feeling out how many people would be interested in buying handmade pieces of jewelry from Nicaragua. Mileydie at the moment is working on a collection along with her sister and other Nicaraguan woman, that she hopes she will be able to sell online in the coming year. So leave us a comment and let us know if you would be interested in pieces from her collection, and helping support this amazingly talented girl.

Here is an example of one Mileydie's pieces on Irma Isabella ...stay tuned for more from my shoot with Irma Isabella soon!

Family Adventure Story: San Juan Del Sur Photographer

I posted a few photos from this shoot, a few months back, while I was living in San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua. This family was so much fun, and incredibly inspiring. I loved the idea of capturing this moment in time in this families story. They can remember exactly how they were, felt, and loved, their time in Nicaragua as a family. Kel and I are hoping to move back to Nicaragua sometime in the year 2012. I have decided to try and bring my photography company with me this time. If your planning a vacation with your family, a special anniversary, a destination wedding in Central America feel free to contact me about availability. I would love to help you remember by documenting how you celebrated your life together through an adventure. Having the beautiful rainforest jungles and beaches of central america give you the perfect backdrop for your next family photos, and a way of displaying the adventure you took. I will be putting more infomation about this opportunity online in 2012.

The most beautiful group of girls. They all look like their mamasita
